Primate Elijah Ayodele has criticised the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the country’s security situation, alleging that the government lacks the courage to decisively confront insecurity.

Ayodele, in a statement issued through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, claimed that the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government and security agencies were aware of the individuals and networks behind insecurity but had failed to act decisively.

According to him, the roots of insurgency in Nigeria stem from politicians who allegedly used armed groups for political purposes and later lost control of them.

“The Nigerian government isn’t taking the issue of security seriously because it’s looking like a curse to the Nigerian government,” he said, adding that the “secret of insecurity is known to the government and all service chiefs but they are scared.”

The cleric further alleged that some traditional rulers were linked to insecurity, questioning why authorities had not acted against those allegedly involved.

Ayodele also argued that insecurity had become a “business” in Nigeria and warned that without a government willing to take drastic actions, the crisis could persist.

His remarks come amid ongoing national debates over terrorism, banditry, kidnappings, and other security challenges facing different parts of Nigeria. (Sunday Tribune)
