Dumebi Kachikwu
A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) loyal to former presidential candidate Dumebi Kachikwu has announced plans to convene a National Convention as part of efforts to reposition the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made in a statement issued in Abuja and signed by the acting Chairman of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), Kingsley Ogga.
According to the statement, the convention will bring together party stakeholders, delegates, state executives, youth leaders, women groups, and political observers from across Nigeria.
The party explained that the gathering is aimed at strengthening its internal democratic processes, reviewing its political direction, and intensifying preparations for the 2027 polls.
Key activities expected at the convention include the inauguration and ratification of members of the National Working Committee, discussions on party primaries, expansion of party structures nationwide, and consultations on grassroots mobilisation strategies.
The statement further noted that participants would deliberate on issues surrounding national development, youth and women inclusion, party reforms, and the ADC’s role in advancing democratic governance in Nigeria.
The party described the convention as a major step toward building a more united and formidable political platform capable of providing credible leadership and governance alternatives ahead of the next general elections.
It also called on party supporters, civil society groups, members of the public, and the media to attend the event. (The Guardian)
