Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen and his Galatasaray teammates have been received by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan following the club’s latest Süper Lig triumph.
The reception, held at the Presidential Complex in Ankara, came after Galatasaray sealed their 26th Turkish league title, finishing ahead of fierce rivals Fenerbahçe in another dominant domestic campaign.
Osimhen, who played a decisive role in the club’s successful season, joined his teammates in a formal visit to the Turkish leader, with members of the squad dressed in suits as they exchanged greetings and handshakes with Erdoğan.
The Nigerian forward delivered an impressive campaign for the Istanbul giants, scoring 15 league goals and contributing five assists in 22 appearances. He also made his mark in Europe, registering seven goals and three assists in 10 UEFA Champions League matches before Galatasaray’s round-of-16 exit to Liverpool.
During the visit, Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek presented an official club jersey to President Erdoğan, underscoring the significance of the club’s latest title success.
Galatasaray’s latest championship further strengthened their grip on Turkish football, and the club now stands on the brink of another historic milestone. Should they defend their crown next season, they would become the first team in Turkey to win five consecutive league titles.
For Osimhen, the success adds another layer to what has become a productive and trophy-laden spell in Turkey. The Nigerian international has now won three titles with Galatasaray, cementing his place as one of the club’s standout performers.
His form has also continued to attract attention across Europe, with reports linking the 27-year-old striker to clubs including Chelsea, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
Despite growing transfer interest, Galatasaray are understood to be keen on keeping hold of the Nigerian star, whose influence on and off the pitch has become increasingly important to the club’s ambitions.
As speculation over his future intensifies, Osimhen’s latest appearance alongside Turkey’s president offers another reminder of his rising stature in European football and the impact he has made since arriving in Istanbul. (The Sun)
