NRC MDCEO, Dr Kayode Opeifa
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has successfully conducted the 2027 promotion examination for senior officers on Grade Levels 13 to 16 seeking advancement to Grade Levels 14 to 17, as part of its commitment to professionalism, staff development, and merit-based career progression within the Corporation.
The examination, which was vacancy-driven, was held at the NRC Headquarters Training Centre in Lagos and involved senior officers from various departments and units of the Corporation. Management explained that the exercise was conducted based on available vacancies within the affected grade levels, stressing that not all officers who participated in the examination would eventually be promoted.
The exercise was conducted under the supervision of the Senior Staff Committee on Appointment, Promotion and Discipline (SSCAPD), chaired by the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation, Dr. Kayode Opeifa.
Members of the committee included Directors of the Corporation, two representatives of the Federal Ministry of Transportation (FMOT), and a representative from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF).
To ensure transparency, credibility, and strict adherence to public service regulations, representatives of both the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and the Federal Ministry of Transportation were physically present to monitor and supervise the conduct of the exercise alongside management officials of the Corporation.
Addressing the candidates before the commencement of the examination, the Director, Administration and Human Resources, Dr. Monsurat Omotayo, urged the officers to maintain discipline and strictly comply with the rules and regulations guiding the examination process. She emphasized the importance of integrity, professionalism, and excellence, noting that the promotion exercise was designed to ensure fairness, competence, and due process in career advancement within the Corporation.
Representatives of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and the Federal Ministry of Transportation also addressed the candidates, encouraging them to conduct themselves properly throughout the exercise while commending the Nigerian Railway Corporation for the orderly and transparent arrangements put in place for the examination.
The promotion examination was conducted in a peaceful and well-organized atmosphere, with strict supervision and compliance with laid-down examination procedures throughout the exercise.
The successful conduct of the examination further demonstrates the Corporation’s resolve to sustain a transparent, competitive, and merit-driven personnel management system aimed at strengthening operational efficiency and rewarding diligence, competence, and dedication to service.
