The Anambra State Police Command has announced the rescue of an unconscious man found along the Onitsha/Owerri Road in Okpoko, near Dozzy Filling Station.
This was contained in a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Wednesday.
According to the statement, security operatives attached to the Okpoko Division discovered the yet-to-be-identified elderly man lying unconscious by the roadside during a routine foot patrol.
The statement reads in part: "The officers immediately rushed the victim to a hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention.
"The Command is deeply concerned about the condition of the victim and appealed to members of the public who may have useful information regarding his identity, family, or place of residence to report to the Okpoko Police Division or contact the Command for necessary action."
Meanwhile, the Command has fulfilled a promise made during activities marking the National Police Day celebration by paying the second-term school fees of five pupils who distinguished themselves academically in their various schools and classes.
Giving insight on the gesture, Ikenga explained that it was aimed at encouraging academic excellence, supporting education, and promoting sustainable nation-building in Anambra State.
Also, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment not only to maintaining law and order but also to support initiatives that positively impact the lives of Ndi Anambra, particularly the younger generation.
“The Command therefore reassures residents of its resolve to continue combining effective policing with people-oriented programmes that foster trust, compassion, and community development.
