Former minister of transport, Amaechi
By Mary Agbabiaka
Former minister of transport, Rotimi Amaechi has dismissed speculations that he is seeking a vice-presidential position, insisting that his political ambition is focused solely on the presidency amid ongoing conversations surrounding the ADC presidential ticket battle.
Speaking recently on the podcast Daily Politics on Trust TV, Amaechi addressed issues concerning party leadership, consensus arrangements, and reports linking him to a possible vice-presidential role.
“I did not buy the form to be vice president. Who are all those saying that?,” he queried
The former governor of Rivers state stressed that the discussion should remain focused on the presidency rather than the vice-presidential position.
“Idris, the interview is about the presidency. I didn’t buy a form for the vice president. If you want to interview a vice president, I can send them in for you”.
Speaking on the issue of consensus candidacy within the party, Amaechi maintained that any such decision must come through collective agreement among stakeholders.
“If the party wants a consensus, let’s have a meeting. If we agree, we do it. If we don’t, we go primary”. (Vanguard)
