The Nigeria Police
The Nigeria Police Force has deployed security operatives to schools across Ekiti State as part of measures aimed at strengthening security around learning institutions and boosting confidence among teachers and students.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Micheal Falade, disclosed this during the commencement of an operational tour of selected schools across the state on Monday.
The command noted that the initiative is targeted at ensuring adequate protection of schools amid growing security concerns in parts of the country.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Sunday Abutu, during the tour, the police commissioner visited Federal Government Girls’ College Efon Alaaye; Government College, Efon Alaaye; Federal Technical College,Usi-Ekiti; Ekiti State Government College, Usi-Ekiti and Ipere Comprehensive High School, Ikere-Ekiti.
Addressing the management of the schools visited, the commissioner assured them of the command’s commitment to guaranteeing maximum security for all schools in the state through collaboration with the military, other security agencies and local security outfits.
Falade also charged officers deployed for school protection duties to remain alert, professional and firm while respecting the rights of citizens in the course of discharging their responsibilities.
He further appealed to parents, teachers, students and residents to remain vigilant and security conscious, stressing the importance of timely and credible information in preventing crime.
The police command urged members of the public to cooperate with security agencies and report suspicious activities and movements in their localities. (Nigerian Tribune)
