Governor Adeleke
By BONIFACE AKARAH
The Osun Health Insurance Agency has commenced plans to enroll traditional rulers and their spouses across the state into the Osun State Health Insurance Scheme following a directive by Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The initiative, according to the agency, is part of the state government’s efforts to expand access to quality, affordable and inclusive healthcare for residents irrespective of social status or background.
The Executive Secretary of OHIS, Rasaq Akindele, disclosed this in a statement issued in Osogbo on Monday, saying officials of the agency would begin palace visits across the state from Wednesday, May 20, 2026, to commence the registration and enrollment exercise.
Akindele explained that the exercise, expected to last two weeks, would cover traditional rulers and their spouses in line with Governor Adeleke’s directive.
“The agency has already put necessary machineries in motion to ensure a seamless enrollment exercise,” he said.
According to him, the move reflects the Adeleke administration’s commitment to the health and wellbeing of Osun residents and recognition of the role traditional institutions play in maintaining peace and development in the state.
“This initiative is a clear demonstration of the unwavering commitment of Governor Adeleke towards ensuring qualitative, accessible and affordable healthcare delivery for every resident of Osun State irrespective of social status, class or background,” Akindele stated.
He further said the gesture was designed to strengthen healthcare access for royal fathers and their spouses while appreciating their contributions to unity and social stability in Osun State.
The OHIS boss assured that the agency would continue implementing people-focused health policies aimed at improving the welfare and living standards of residents across the state.
