A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an unidentified man in Bunza, Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered that the suspect dragged the victim to an uncompleted building, assaulted her, and fled the scene.

An eye witness, who pleaded anonymity said the victim was later found unconscious by a passerby on Sunday and rushed her to the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Birnin Kebbi for treatment.

Confirming the incident on Monday, the Kebbi Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said the suspect was still at large.

“The victim was found by the police in an uncompleted building and was immediately taken to the General Hospital, Bunza.

“She was later referred to the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kebbi, for further medical attention,” Usman said.

He added that the circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.

“Police have commenced a thorough investigation to establish the facts and ensure justice is served,” he stated. (NAN)
