Nigeria international footballer Victor Osimhen and music stars Asake, Davido and Wizkid have been unveiled among nominees for the 2026 Golden Stars Award.

Organisers of the award announced the latest batch of nominees ahead of the ceremony, noting that selections were based on the individuals’ contributions, influence and consistency within the entertainment and sports industries over the past year.

According to the organisers, emphasis was placed on global visibility, audience engagement and career impact in determining this year’s nominations.

The Golden Stars Award, which has operated for nearly a decade, has continued to recognise achievements across entertainment, sports, politics, business, public service and entrepreneurship.

Over the years, the platform has honoured notable personalities within Nigeria and the African diaspora.

This year’s nomination list further reflects the growing international recognition of Nigerian talents, especially in music and sports, where local acts and athletes continue to gain global attention through international tours, club performances, awards and major collaborations.

Meanwhile, organisers confirmed that Akong Appliance will serve as the principal sponsor for the 2026 edition, while Idan Nla Bitters, Water Cress Hotels and Nuel Smith Events Production are among the gold sponsors supporting the event.

Official media partners for the award include TMY Empire, City Edge TV, Gossiploaded TV, AremsEnt and DailyTrend TV.

Although the full nomination categories are yet to be released, organisers disclosed that the award ceremony is scheduled to hold on July 25, 2026, at the Water Cress Event Centre.

The inclusion of some of Nigeria’s biggest entertainment exports is expected to generate heightened public interest as preparations continue for the awards ceremony. (Saturday Tribune)
