Twenty-seven aspirants have been cleared by the Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to participate in the House of Representative primaries slated for today, May 15, 2026.
Briefing journalists in Awka at the party’s sectariat, the State Chairman of the party, Emma Anosike, said that the cleared aspirants emerged after undergoing the party’s screening exercise conducted by the APC screening committee
According to him, the meeting was aimed at assessing the eligibility and readiness of aspirants vying for the party’s ticket across the federal constituencies that constitute Anambra State.
He added: "The aspirants emerged through consensus arrangements or direct primaries in their respective constituencies.
“Anambra APC under my watch is fully prepared for a free, fair, transparent and credible primaries that will inform Ndi-Anambra that APC is set to take it lost staged in the state.
“All our members across the 21 local government areas in the state are also on ground to select those that have the capacity to create history in their various constituency during the voting process in the 2027 elections proper.
“Though the aspirants would have been more than 27 numbers, but because some of them that bought the forms were those that took the party to court, they are no longer eligible to participate in the party’s primarily because they are no longer our members, they have been expelled. It is the rule in APC that is why the party is disciplined.
“In Awka North and South they were two and one dropped. It is like that in other areas, however, work is in progress, the only thing we need to go into the coming elections is Unity and peace in our party and by the grace of God before the commencement of the exercise scheduled to hold across the 326 wards in the state, if more people will drop, it will be fantastic.
“We have put in place adequate security for a smooth and transparent process in Anambra State.”
Anosike stressed that what is important to the party is working cohesively together, noting that politics of the present requires that.
“If you do not work together it will become budget deficit, therefore we are going for the 2027 general elections with other political parties fully prepared,” the chairman stated.
