NIMC new digital drive
The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has introduced new digital customer support channels, including WhatsApp and live chat services, to improve access to National Identification Number (NIN)-related assistance for Nigerians and legal residents.
The commission announced the development in a statement signed by its Head of Corporate Communications Unit, Kayode Adegoke.
According to the statement, the initiative forms part of ongoing reforms and digital transformation efforts being driven by the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NIMC, Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote.
NIMC said the newly launched platforms are designed to provide faster, more convenient, and real-time support services to users seeking information and assistance on identity management issues.
Members of the public can now access support through the live chat feature available on the commission’s official website, NIMC Official Website, as well as the official NIMC WhatsApp support line on +234 701 566 6971.
The commission stated that the move aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which focuses on improving public sector efficiency and expanding access to government services through technology-driven solutions.
“The newly introduced platforms are designed to provide prompt responses to enquiries, real-time guidance, and improved customer interaction from anywhere and at any time, reducing the need for physical visits while enhancing user experience and operational efficiency,” the statement read.
NIMC noted that the digital platforms would help strengthen citizen engagement, improve operational efficiency, and expand access to identity management services across the country.
The commission added that under the leadership of Coker-Odusote, it would continue to pursue strategic reforms and innovative digital solutions aimed at improving service delivery and strengthening public trust.
It also urged Nigerians and legal residents to make use of the official communication channels for verified information, support, and updates regarding NIN services and other identity management matters.
NIMC further warned members of the public to remain vigilant and avoid engaging with unofficial platforms to protect themselves from misinformation and fraudulent activities. (@Nigerian Tribune)
