Reactions from social media users have continued to flood online platforms over recent reports of assault on Ilebaye Odiniya, winner of the 2023 Big Brother Naija All Stars edition, by her father, Emmanuel Odiniya.

The issue generated a public buzz on Saturday when the 25-year-old celebrity cried out for help, appearing distressed, during an Instagram live session.

In the shocking video that went viral online, the reality TV star was seen crying, with noticeable swelling on her face, sparking outrage across social media platforms.

However, as the frenzy continued, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, in a statement, confirmed the arrest of the celebrity’s father, adding that investigations were ongoing and that justice would be pursued.

The Police said the Reality TV star was receiving treatment in a medical facility in the FCT.

However, as events unfold, many social media users and celebrities have taken to various platforms to express concerns and outrage, prompting conversations on domestic violence.

Some netizens, especially fans of the BBNaija star,called for a thorough investigation into the disturbing claims of assault , with adequate sanctions.

Others said, although the incident was disturbing, there was need for calm and reconciliation within the family, as the father only “disciplined” his child.

@Adetokunbo Omotolani commented, “The mother should appeal the judgement and get custody of the kids, it shows how abusive he was towards their mom”.

@Cential Samuel commented, “No father can beat you up in this manner for just asking a question unless he’s mentally unstable”.

“By her mom’s narration, it seems she was aware she was going to see the Dad and likely put some words in her head which she might have said to the Dad which resulted in his crazy actions.

“She overstepped her boundaries, likely painted the father as the devil and the mom the angel”.

However, BBNaija Level Up winner (2022), Ijeoma Otabor,popularly known as Phyna, slammed those condemning the father over the alleged assault.

In a live Instagram session, Phyna said the issue is a family matter, and that netizens should be mindful of what they say about them.
