The Obidient movement
The Obidient Movement has called for calm among its supporters amid reports on Peter Obi’s move to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a statement issued on Saturday, the movement reassured members across Nigeria and in the diaspora that Obi remains actively engaged in high-level consultations aimed at determining the most strategic path forward.
Following the crisis rocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Obi and Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso are said to be on their way out of the party.
According to the statement, the former Anambra State governor is currently holding extensive discussions with key stakeholders, political allies, and like-minded groups as part of efforts to advance the movement’s vision.

Obedient Movement: We have concerns over ADC crisis
“The Obidient Movement acknowledges the growing concerns and widespread reports regarding recent political developments and evolving engagements with current and potential partners,” the statement read.
It stressed that the ongoing consultations were deliberate and focused on ensuring that any decision taken aligns with the movement’s core values of integrity, accountability, and citizen-driven governance.
“These engagements are focused on determining the most strategic and effective path forward in the best interest of the Nigerian people and our shared mission to build a New Nigeria,” it added.
The group urged supporters not to be distracted by reports, noting that Obi remains committed to the ideals that inspired the movement.
“We urge all Obidients to remain calm, patient, and focused. Do not be swayed by speculative reports,” the statement said.
It further assured that Obi would soon address the public to provide clarity on the situation and outline the direction ahead.
“Peter Obi remains fully committed to this mission and will, in due course, formally address the Obidient Movement and the general public,” it concluded.
The statement comes amid heightened political activity and shifting alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections, with observers closely watching Obi’s next move. (Daily Trust)
