A worker has died while preparing the stage for Shakira’s upcoming concert in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Organisers say the incident happened during construction work for the event set to hold at Copacabana Beach. The concert is part of a free public show scheduled in the city.

They said the worker was involved in setting up stage structures when the accident occurred. Emergency teams responded and he was taken to hospital, where he was later confirmed dead.

A statement from organisers said the man was working on assembling the stage when the accident happened. It added that support has been provided to his family and the company involved in the setup.

Shakira has expressed sadness over the death. She said her thoughts were with the family of the worker.

The concert is still planned to go ahead as scheduled while investigations continue into the cause of the accident and safety measures at the site. (AriseNews TV)
