The family of Tupac Shakur has filed a wrongful death lawsuit in Los Angeles, seeking damages over his killing and raising new claims about those involved.

The case was filed by a relative acting for the estate. It names Duane Davis as the main defendant and also refers to other unnamed people. The filing aims to identify those linked to the shooting through court process. Davis is already facing a criminal trial and has denied the charge.

Court papers say the killing may have involved more people than first thought. The family says it wants to use the case to bring out more details and hold anyone involved to account.

Shakur was shot in a drive-by attack in Las Vegas in 1996 and died days later. His death remained unresolved for years, with no arrest made at the time.

Police later charged Davis, saying he played a key role in the attack. Prosecutors have said he was present in the car used in the shooting. Davis has pleaded not guilty and is due to stand trial.
