Seasoned communicator and politician Mary Ikoku has thrown her hat into the ring ahead of the 2027 general elections. She has decided to run for the House of Representatives, representing Arochukwu–Ohafia Federal Constituency of Abia State, and is scheduled to make the official declaration this Sunday afternoon, April 26, 2026.

“This step is one I have taken after careful reflection and in response to the need for stronger, more responsive representation for our people,” Adamazi Mary Nnennaya Ikoku (Nwanyi Bu Ihe 1, Ohafia) said in a message to stakeholders.

The official declaration is scheduled for 2pm at the Civic Centre, opposite Eze-Aro’s Palace, Oror, Arochukwu.

News Express reports that Mary Ikoku is a Media Practitioner, Public Relations & Communication Strategist and a journalist with ample experience in developing, implementing and promoting communication and public relations strategies. A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), she served as the Assistant Secretary for Media and Publicity for the party’s 2026 National Convention held last month in Abuja.
