The management of Ikeja Electric has expressed regret over the ongoing service disruption currently affecting various areas across its network.
In a notice to its customers on Friday, the power firm assured that all relevant stakeholders are working diligently and in close coordination to restore the power supply to all affected feeders as quickly as possible.
“We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time and will continue to provide updates as restoration efforts progress.”
However, it appears the explanation by Ikeja Electric did not go down well with its customers, as many have taken to social media to lambast the utility firm.
An X user (formerly Twitter), @Olabinjo 2026, wrote: “It’s been almost two months now that we’ve been battling erratic power supply in Ikeja GRA. These poor supplies have caused a lot of damage to our office equipment and other gadgets. We spend millions on diesel and generator fixing due to this rubbish power supply. You’re just incompetent.”
Another X user, Arafat Adebola, wrote: “Ikeja Electric should stop talking about being diligent because nothing suggests that at all. Almost all (DT) transformers are on load-shedding under the following feeders in Ikorodu: Ayangburen, Eruwen, Igbogbo, and Ijebu-Ode.”
A disappointed customer, Olatunde Alao, also wrote: “This outage in Aboru, Iyana Ipaja, has been ongoing for an extended period compared to surrounding areas. Multiple households have been without power for an extended period while nearby areas have supply. This appears to be a recurring issue on our feeder. Kindly provide a clear explanation, feeder status, and timeline for restoration.”
Many of the consumers on X expressed frustration with the poor service delivery by Ikeja Electric.
A similar complaint that dominated the X space by consumers is the inability of Ikeja Electric to provide electricity for those on Band A.
The majority of the customers complained that instead of the promised service level of a minimum of 20 hours for Band A customers, all they get is a service level typical for Band C customers.
Others also complained of being without prepaid meters several months after applying for the same. (SUN)
