Registered members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in Ontario, Canada, have dismissed the delisting of the leadership of the party and called on Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora, to vote the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), out of power in the 2027 general elections.
The teeming members of ADC described as “illegal” meddlesomeness of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) into the affairs of political parties and urged Nigerians to be resolute in voting out the ruling party.
A statement signed by a chieftain and leader of ADC in Ontario, Joe Korka-Waadah, and released to journalists in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, called on the leadership of the party not to be deterred by the “shenanigans” of a “clearly compromised” INEC.
Korka-Waadah, who is the Executive Director, Compassionate Heart Foundation of Canada, called on ADC members to continue to rally round the party a’ the only formidable platform to win the next election.
He expressed optimism that the former governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi, is most positioned to clinch the presidential ticket of the party, adding that with his years of experience in the eco-political system, “Amaechi is first among equals.”
He continued: “We have the chance to make it right in 2027. The ADC is the only platform that will deliver the change we need to put Nigeria in the right trajectory that would clear the helplessness, hunger, insecurity that has bedeviled Nigeria as a country under this “inept and clueless” regime.
“If we don’t get it right, indications are that we may not have a country called Nigeria anymore. On that note, we must not gamble with what we should pick to lead the charge against the APC. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is the man for this moment based on his antecedents and performance as the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, eight years as governor and eight years as minister.”
Korka-Waadah, a political management consultant, noted that Amaechi’s achievements are there for all to see.
He said: “We need someone that will hit the ground running from day one. ADC electorate, the ball is in your court. Age is on his side, he is highly educated and he has all it takes to bring about the transformation we so desire. He is the only candidate that is loved across the board: from the North, South, East and West.”
The ADC leader explained that Nigerians cannot continue on the part of the present economic hardship and avoidable insecurity across the country, saying, “the only way out is for ADC to present a formidable and generally acceptable candidate that will engage the ruling APC in 2027.”
He disclosed that Nigerians in Canada are solidly behind the candidature of the former Minister of Transportation, Amaechi, adding that the party should avoid the mistake of fielding a weak candidate for next year’s election. (The Sun)
