Aftermath of terrorist attack on Ngoshe, Borno
Barely a day after international human rights lawyer Emmanuel Ogebe advocated on behalf of Gwoza refugees abandoned by the U.S. in Cameroun in a Capitol Hill congressional briefing, reports of a new attack in Ngoshe where some of them returned, emerged over the weekend.
According to one of the survivors from Gwoza, “After the Ngoshe massacres, survivors went to Pulka for safety in the Pulka no shelter people live in open space, no food or medication government abandoned the survivors, and told the world Ngoshe has been reclaimed only for the victims today 28th March 2026 to return and terrorist bombed them, some of the victims doesn't have hand and leg some have died those who are severely injured are now rushed to hospital, yet no official statement from government no intervention, and those who were abducted are still in captivity languishing in terrorist camps, no rescue mission.”
According to the source in a distress message shared with News Express by Ogebe, “We are facing genocide beyond imagination help us tell the world, Gwoza is bleeding, Christians are being targeted for their faith in Jesus.”
Meanwhile, below is the transcript of Ogebe’s Thursday’s congressional briefing on Security, Economic importance of U.S.-Nigeria bilateral relations:
“Now, with regard to the US-Nigeria relationship, uh, let me, let me point out something very significant. From December, January, and February, the US intervened in three countries militarily. All three countries were OPEC countries. All three countries were low volume producing countries because some of them were under sanctions. Of those three countries, only one's leadership is still intact, and that was Nigeria. That shows you the importance of Nigeria.
“Now, let me, let me give some historical context so we understand what's going on. From December to February, there have been six high-level delegations to Nigeria. That shows you how important Nigeria is.
“In December alone, there were two congressional delegations. It hasn't happened before historically. The last time there were two back-to-back, congressional delegations to Nigeria was in June 2014 after the Chibok abductions, and I went with both. So there is a heightened interest in Nigeria now.
“I will point out something very significant, which is that when Chibok happened, President Obama deployed eighty troops to Chad.
“And we asked, "Why Chad?" They were like, "Well, in case they try to bring them to Chad." And when we asked confidentially they said, "Well, we don't trust the Nigerian military. We can't send our troops in."
“President Trump has sent two hundred American soldiers into Nigeria. I want us to understand that is putting their lives on the line on our behalf, and so we need to understand that in context…
“I will end by saying that I align my remarks with the first gentleman, the prince, who talked about immigration policy. As we speak, the United States banned Nigerians the first term of Trump, but they made an exception for medical doctors because they know they need our doctors.
“But this time around, I don't think they have that exception. It's a wholesale ban. But here's what really angers us. While you're saying, “Christians are being persecuted in Nigeria”, all of that, the United States banned the airlift of thousands of Nigerians who are in refugee camps in Cameroon last year.
“Under the previous administration, ninety-seven refugees had been admitted to the US, and then this administration came in and banned the airlifts. Unfortunately, after twelve years. Under international law, after seven years, they're eligible for resettlement. They've been there twelve years and unfortunately, a few weeks ago, some of them were taken back to Nigeria and Boko Haram attacked them and killed them after spending twelve years in a refugee camp waiting to go to America.
“So again, we have to interrogate America and say, "Listen, you can't be saying this and doing exactly the opposite." I know the Nigeria Center has been campaigning for TPS (Temporary Protected Status) for forever. This is the time when we should be implementing TPS because the conditions are ripe.
“Thank you.”
