Following the 2026 Academy Awards Usher and Justin Bieber reportedly engaged in a heated verbal confrontation at the Oscars after-party.

The incident occurred at the exclusive “Gold Party,” the yearly Oscars after-party hosted by Beyoncé and Jay-Z at the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood.

According to TMZ reports, the altercation drew the attention of numerous guests.

Witnesses described the exchange as “intense” and “tense,” briefly overshadowing the celebratory atmosphere of the night. While some early social media rumors suggested the disagreement had escalated into a physical altercation, sources close to Bieber have since clarified that no physical contact occurred.

Insiders sources stated that Usher approached Bieber during the event with what was described as “anger.” The two singers then became embroiled in a brief but sharp argument in front of a room filled with high-profile celebrities.

Recall that Usher and Bieber have a long-standing friendship and professional relationship. Usher famously served as a mentor to Bieber after the then-13-year-old was discovered by manager Scooter Braun in 2008.

Usher played a pivotal role in launching Bieber’s career, eventually signing him to the RBMG joint venture.

However, in recent times the pair has grown distant in recent years. Industry insiders have noted that the two have not been seen together publicly since 2022. Reports indicate that Bieber has been making a concerted effort to distance himself from figures associated with his early career.

Some sources claimed that Bieber simply did not want to engage with his former mentor during the party, leading to the friction when Usher approached him.

While neither artist has released an official statement regarding the cause of the argument, several theories have circulated among industry circles. Some point to Bieber’s decision to decline a guest appearance during Usher’s 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show as potential source of lingering resentment.

The singer revealed in a 2024 interview with Charlamagne Tha God on The Breakfast Club.

“We’re going to do something else in the future, but no love lost or anything like that. I think that it’s a lot of pressure for the Super Bowl, obviously, for me to put together a show, so I reached out to everybody,” Usher said.

“Justin wasn’t the only person I actually spoke to about doing the Super Bowl, but the moment was maybe for later.” He noted.

As of press time, representatives for both Usher and Justin Bieber have not responded to requests for comment from press men or release an official statement.

Despite the intensity of the exchange, no security personnel intervened, and no police reports were filed.

The guest list for the private gathering include figures such as Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce, Timothée Chalamet, Kylie Jenner, and Emma Stone. Bieber’s wife, Hailey Bieber, was also present at the event. (Guardian)
