Hon Suberu John
A frontline stakeholder in the central district of Kogi State, Hon. Suberu Yusuf John, has said the lingering and worrisome insecurity threats in several constituencies in the nation breaks hearts, stressing that the only panacea remains a focused leadership.
Hon. John disclosed this at Ege in Adavi local government in the state on Wednesday while declaring his intention to represent Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency at the house of Representatives to his constituents in the next dispensation.
He stated that the security threats posed by banditry activities, unemployment, inadequate infrastructure and credit facilities to facilitate micro/macro businesses in most communities in the country, has put several constituents of this nation on an edge.
According to him these inadequacies have endangered constituents in several states, making them to continue wearing gloomy and hopeless faces, with a seemingly no ends in insight.
“It breaks my heart when insecurity threatens our communities and our people can no longer sleep peacefully in their homes.
“Our communities must be safe. Farmers must be able to go to their farms without fear. Families must sleep peacefully in their homes.
“It breaks my heart when I see our roads in terrible condition. However, I must acknowledge and appreciate the recent intervention of His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, in addressing some of these road challenges,” he said.
Hon. John noted further that the Adavi/Okehi federal constituency that is blessed with hardworking and talented people has been treated as though their pain no longer matter.
He lamented: “Our votes are needed, but our voices are often ignored. We are remembered during elections, but forgotten afterwards. And that must change.
“It breaks my heart when our children learn under trees or in overcrowded classrooms without proper facilities.
“It breaks my heart when our young people, full of potential, become frustrated because opportunities are nowhere to be found”.
Accordingly, he appealed to his constituents not to keep silent ,but strive to choose someone who will truly represent the people, and remain accessible after the election.
“Choose someone who understands the pain and hopes of Adavi and Okehi. Our people deserve leadership that is compassionate, committed, and accountable.
“I stand before you to formally declare my intention to contest for the Federal House of Representatives seat representing the good people of Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency.
“If given the opportunity, I will carry the voice of Adavi/Okehi to Abuja with courage and determination”, he said .
Earlier, a woman leader of Ege-Iruvochinomi Ward in the federal constituency, Hon. Abdulmalik Fatimat pledged their support to his aspiration, stressing that the aspirant has clearly demonstrated by his posture all over past years that true leadership is not merely about holding office, but about impacting lives and uplifting communities.
“We are confident that, given the opportunity, you will bring greater development, expanded empowerment opportunities, and meaningful representation to our constituency”, she said.
The highlight of the occasion that was witnessed by party stakeholders, chieftains, traditional rulers, colleagues and admirers was the presentation of scholarships award to 40 students, distribution of food items to 1,500 people and provision of financial support to 100 individuals, including distribution of cellphones to constituents.
