Former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has described Nigeria’s constitution as “probably the most fraudulent in the world,” arguing that it lacks genuine public participation.

Speaking on Channels TV’s Morning Brief, Sowore criticized the opening phrase “We the people,” insisting that Nigerians were never involved in drafting, approving, or legitimising the document.

According to him, the absence of citizen input undermines the constitution’s credibility and democratic foundation.

The activist also reiterated his broader push for political reform ahead of the 2027 elections, vowing that his party would “force the democratic space open, whether they like it or not, in a revolutionary way.”

Sowore further said one of his priorities, if he becomes the president of Nigeria, is to change the constitution.

Commenting on Nigeria’s foreign engagements, particularly with the United Kingdom, he described them as largely ceremonial and lacking tangible economic benefits.

“Nigeria has got a lot more to offer than the UK has to offer Nigeria,” he said, adding that with proper governance, the nation’s economy could rival or surpass that of the UK.

He maintained that investors would naturally be drawn to Nigeria if the country’s systems were properly managed, rather than relying on what he described as “diplomatic excursions.” ((The Sun)
