The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has introduced a digital membership registration portal as part of efforts to expand its reach and strengthen the party’s organisational framework across the country.
The portal was formally unveiled in Abuja by the party’s National Leader, Henry Seriake Dickson, with the National Chairman, Cleopas Moses; National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, as well as several state chairmen and other party leaders and stakeholders present.
Speaking at the event, Dickson described the digital platform as a key step towards modernising the party’s internal processes and opening up wider participation for Nigerians both within the country and in the diaspora. According to him, the portal allows citizens to register as members from any location while enabling the party to maintain accurate records and properly manage its membership database.
He expressed gratitude to Nigerians for the support the party has received since it was announced, noting that many people across the country had reached out to indicate interest in joining the movement.
“I thank Nigerians for the encouragement we have received through messages and calls since the news of the party emerged. Many people have expressed their readiness to support this vision aimed at salvaging our country,” he said.
Dickson pointed out that although the party is still only a few weeks old, it has already begun to attract considerable attention nationwide. He emphasised that the NDC was conceived as a broad-based national movement rather than a regional political platform, adding that experienced political organisers are already coordinating activities at the state, local government and ward levels.
“We are a national party. We are a pan-Nigerian democratic movement. We are not a regional movement,” he said.
To ensure that the membership drive is inclusive, Dickson said the online registration process would be complemented by physical registration forms. The printed forms, he explained, would be distributed through party structures across states, local governments and wards to enable citizens in rural communities who may not have access to digital tools to also register.
The lawmaker also expressed confidence that the party would meet the necessary registration requirements within the available timeframe, stressing that officials at different levels had been mobilised to assist interested Nigerians during the process.
Commenting on the political mood in the country, Dickson said growing dissatisfaction among citizens has created a demand for credible political alternatives.
“Nigerians are angry with the status quo. Nigerians are not only angry, they are also hungry, and they are hungry for change,” he said, adding that the NDC was positioned to provide a platform for the transformation many citizens desire.
He further described the party as a new political movement free from internal crises and committed to ideological politics and national development, stressing that it “is available as the tool for effecting the change Nigerians want.”
Drawing a biblical reference, the former Bayelsa governor compared the emergence of the NDC to the story of Noah building the Ark, urging Nigerians who desire genuine political change to identify with the party early.
“In the Bible, when Noah knew what was going to happen and prepared the ark, people thought he was crazy. But when the flood eventually came, they began to run to the ark and it was too late,” he said. “The NDC in Nigeria today, politically, is like Noah’s family. Those who can see the signs should come on board early.”
Also speaking, the party’s National Chairman, Moses, said the digital membership portal would simplify the process of joining the party and enhance participation in its activities. He explained that adopting a digital registration system would improve transparency, accountability and inclusiveness within the party, while also strengthening its grassroots mobilisation across the country.
He furthrr said the platform would support the party’s membership drive and help build a strong base ahead of future political engagements.
Interested Nigerians can register through the party’s official website, www.ndcnigeria.com where membership cards can also be obtained. (The Sun)
