Abia State Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has arrested four suspected members of a cult group.

The arrested suspects include Onyema Ike (36 yrs), Chukwuma Kelvin (30 yrs), Chidera Fredrick (37 yrs), and Onyekachi Okafor (36 yrs)

Exhibits recovered from them include expended cartridges, local gunpowder, Tramadol, and substances suspected to be hard drugs, reportedly in bags.

The State Police Commissioner, Danladi Isa, disclosed that a joint police team from the Igbere, Bende, and Uzuakoli Police Divisions leveraged actionable intelligence to arrest the group terrorizing the Ugwueke Community during a raid at their hideout in Isieke Ugwueke.

CP Isa added that the suspects are currently under interrogation and will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.

The state police Chief also disclosed that normalcy and public order have been maintained in the community, adding that monitoring of the area is ongoing to forestall any security threats.

The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, reiterates the Command’s commitment under the 23rd Indigenous Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, to proactive rather than reactive policing.

He encouraged members of the public to partner with the Police in crime-fighting by reporting any suspicious security incidents to the nearest police station or by contacting the emergency command numbers. (The Nation)
