Former head, Human rights of Commonwealth Secretariat UK, Mr. Steve Onwuasoanya, will on Monday, March 16, 2026, lead a panel of experts to speak on consumer rights during the World Consumer Rights Day 2026.
The event, being organised by the Institute For Consumer Rights and Product Liability Protection Ltd/Gte (ICRP), holds from 10am at the SME Hub by Fidelity Bank, 22, Lanre Awolokun Road, Gbagada Estate Phase 2, Gbagada Express Way, Gbagada, Lagos.
A statement issued on Friday and signed by ICRP Director; Admin/Programmes, Destiny Donald-Igwe Esq. (Mrs), gave the event theme as, “Enforcement; Consumer rights are not suggestions”.
Onwuasoanya, according to the statement, will speak on “The Intersection of International Human Rights Framework and Consumer Rights: The Nigerian Morass”.
Another Keynote Speaker, SAM Chukwuka Onyeka Ph.D., Founder/Lead Director, Transparent Protection Ltd./Gte., will speak on “Consumer Rights Protection in Nigeria: Myth or Reality”.
ICRP President & Executive Director, Chidi Ike (P.h.D.), who will be hosting the event, completes the list of Keynote Speakers.
The theme of this year’s World Consumer Rights Day is “Safe Products, Confident Consumers”.
