The Tunji Olowolafe Foundation
The Tunji Olowolafe Foundation has announced the launch of the Gbemisola Olowolafe Miva Scholarship, a landmark educational initiative representing a ₦1 billion, five-year commitment to fully sponsor the education of 1,000 Nigerian students at Miva Open University.
The scholarship was unveiled by the Chairman of Deux Project Limited and founder of the foundation, Tunji Olowolafe, on the first anniversary of the passing of his wife, Gbemisola Olowolafe, to whom the initiative is dedicated.
The Gbemisola Olowolafe Miva Scholarship is a fully funded undergraduate programme designed to remove financial barriers preventing talented Nigerian students from accessing quality higher education.
Through the initiative, the foundation will cover the full tuition of 1,000 beneficiaries enrolled at Miva Open University over a five-year period.
The scholarship, according to the foundation, reflects the values that Gbemisola Olowolafe embodied during her lifetime—particularly her belief in education as a powerful equaliser and her commitment to helping others reach their full potential regardless of their socioeconomic background.
Announcing the initiative on his LinkedIn page, Olowolafe said the programme was created to sustain his late wife’s legacy of compassion and support for education.“Gbemisola believed that education was the ultimate equaliser—a tool that should be accessible to all, regardless of financial background,” he said.
“By removing tuition barriers for 1,000 aspiring leaders, we are ensuring that her legacy of kindness, excellence and service lives on in the success stories of others.”
He also encouraged Nigerian students with strong ambition but limited financial resources to apply for the scholarship.
“To the dreamers, innovators and hardworking students of Nigeria: if you have the drive and ambition but lack the means, this opportunity is for you. Applications are now open. I encourage you to apply and take the first step toward a future of unlimited possibilities,” he added.
The foundation said its programmes focus on education, empowerment and community development, aimed at creating long-term and sustainable impact by investing in Nigeria’s next generation of leaders.
