Governor Soludo
By LUCY OSUIZIGBO-OKECHUKWU
Gov. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra on Monday toured some primary and secondary schools in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area, in a move aimed at ending the Monday sit-at-home disruption.
Soludo, who interacted with students and teachers during the visit, described the resumption of normal academic activities on Mondays as a significant step towards restoring productivity in the state.
The schools visited include; Community School, Unique Nursery and Primary School, Unique Secondary School, and Central School Primary School.
Others are; Holy Child Secondary School, Community Secondary School, Amaorji Primary School, Ikemee Primary School and Model Primary School, all in Isuofia.
The governor said: “I am delighted to see students and teachers in classrooms on a Monday, a day that had been affected by forced closures for years.
“This development signifies that
normalcy is gradually returning to all sectors of the state’s economy.
“Monday is a regular school day and one of the most important days of the week for setting the tone for productivity.
“I urge our students to embrace hard work and integrity. They must be properly developed in all aspects to compete globally.”
Soludo also highlighted the government's partnership with mission authorities in the management of returned schools.
He explained that while the state subsidises the schools and supports teachers, the missions provide infrastructure and maintain conducive learning environments.
The governor assured residents that adequate security measures had been put in place and directed school administrators to ensure proper attendance records of students.
Soludo commended teachers for their resilience and dedication, adding that the South-East should align with global standards where people work productively five days a week.
He said the development sends a strong signal to investors and residents that Anambra is reclaiming its economic and social life.
The governor reiterated that the state was open for business and progressing steadily. (NAN)
FG, 25 states adopt unified gaming advertising framework
The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) and regulators from 25 federating states have agreed to adopt a unified advertising framework aimed at restructuring the country’s gaming industry and curbing illegal operators.
The agreement was formalised on Monday in Abuja when ARCON signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federating States Gaming Regulators of Nigeria (FSGRN).
The Director-General of ARCON, Olalekan Fadolapo, signed the agreement on behalf of the Federal Government, while the Chairman of FSGRN, Bashir Are, represented the participating states.
The initiative intends to streamline advertising and marketing communications within the lottery and gaming sector.
Speaking after the signing ceremony, Fadolapo said the partnership’s primary objective is to establish a unified and coherent regulatory framework for the gaming industry, which requires consistent collaboration among stakeholders.
He explained that the agreement would address regulatory overlaps and eliminate challenges created by fragmented or “silo” approaches to industry oversight.
According to him, ARCON has identified key regulatory touchpoints to ensure the new framework benefits both industry operators and the general public.
Fadolapo added that while certain regulatory powers are constitutionally reserved for the Federal Government, the gaming sector often overlaps with state interests, creating governance challenges.
“As a federal agency with oversight/registering corporate teams, sponsoring activation zones or partnering with the organisers as strategic collaborators.
Ayida said such partnerships would help promote workplace wellness, improve employee performance and encourage a culture of healthy competition within the corporate environment.
He expressed optimism that the initiative would grow into a major corporate sporting platform that promotes wellness and collaboration within Nigeria’s business community. (NAN)
