The Defence Intelligence College (DIC) has graduated 27 pioneer participants of VIP Protection Course 01/26, marking a significant step toward strengthening professional protective security operations in the country.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI), Lieutenant General Emmanuel Undiandeye, emphasized that the security landscape is becoming increasingly complex and unpredictable.

Lt.-Gen. Undiandeye, who was represented by Deputy CDI, Air Vice Marshal BR Mamman, urged the graduates to embrace innovation and adaptability in their roles as protection professionals.

The Commandant of DIC, Commodore Usman Bugaje, highlighted the critical role of the graduates in ensuring the safety of their principals and other high-profile individuals.

He said the participants were drawn from the Armed Forces, Defence Intelligence Agency, Department of State Services, Nigerian Correctional Service, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

“They underwent intensive inter-agency training focused on executive protection and protective intelligence,” Bugaje said.

“The course covered key areas including risk assessment, intelligence gathering, advance route and movement planning, threat detection, protective formations, and emergency extraction procedures, equipping the graduates with the requisite skills to protect high-value individuals and critical assets in both routine and high-risk environments.”

He added that the graduation underscored the College’s commitment to developing highly skilled security personnel and promoting inter-agency collaboration in addressing evolving security challenges and safeguarding national interests.

The Commandants urged the graduates to always uphold the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and professionalism. (The Nation)
