Obosi Central School, Obosi, which was established in 1887, is, now, a shadow of its glorious and beautiful past as some of the classroom blocks in the school are decrepit and tumbledown, with their roofs blown off by wind.

So, owing to the deplorable and egregious state of the classroom blocks in the primary school, the head teacher of the historical school, Mrs. Patience ‘Ochiora’ Okafor, cried out to former pupils of the school and affluent indigenes of Obosi to come to the aid of the school.

“When I was posted to this school in September 2025, I met a lot of dilapidated structures in the school.

“A recently built classroom block in the school has fallen into disuse because its roof has caved in, and some of the zincs blown off. If repaired, pupils in Basic 6 and nursery section will start using it.

“So I am appealing to kind-hearted past pupils of the school and affluent Obosi indigenes to assist us in repairing the damaged classroom blocks,” Okafor said.

More so, Mrs. Henrietta Ukamaka, a conscientious teacher in the school, lamented that the school buildings are in deplorable state, while conducting this reporter round the school.

She said that the school needed white boards for its classrooms, iron doors, and barbed wires.

“Primary six needs white boards built with tiles, iron doors, and barbed wires. And its roof that leaks water when it rains should be fixed. Other classrooms needed iron doors and barbed wires, too.

“And the foundations of the old classroom blocks, which were built in 1887, are being leached and washed away by rain water.

“They should be fixed urgently; otherwise, those buildings will collapse with the passage of time,” Ukamaka complained.

The Obosi Central School Obosi, which is adjacent to St. Andrew’s church, Obosi, is a primary school with a storied and glorious past.

It Is a government-mission school, which the former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, returned to its rightful owner, the church.

And the school’s existence tells the story of Obosi People’s embrace of western education and their acceptance of Christianity, as the true path that leads to God.
