Military troops in battlefield
Not fewer than 12 soldiers, including two officers, have been killed in multiple attacks in the Konduga local government area of Borno State on Friday, sources said.
A top security source told BusinessDay that the terrorists simultaneously attacked four military bases in Konduga, Mainok, Jakana, and Marte town between 10 pm on Thursday night and 3 am on Friday.
According to the source, the troops were ambushed in Sambisa Forest on Friday, killing one officer and eight soldiers.
Meanwhile, the terrorists launched assaults attacks on the 222 Battalion base in Konduga, killing Lt Col SI Illiyasu and some soldiers, and also burnt down the base completely.
“We lost about 15 soldiers, including two officers, yesterdayb(Friday) during coordinated attacks on our formations in Borno State.”
They reportedly fired at the military facilities sporadically, causing numerous casualties.
The gunmen also arrived in groups, and their numbers were difficult to ascertain, according to sources.
During the attacks, the gunmen reportedly burned armoured tanks, military vehicles, and made away with unquantifiable ammunition.

Uba Sani, Spokesperson for Operation Hadin Kai, said the military also killed scores of Boko Haram terrorists while attempting to repel the attacks.
“Several attacks on military bases in Operation Hadin Kai by gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists in Konduga, Mainok, Jakana around 10:30 pm on Thursday night, while in Marte town around 3:00 am on Friday, the attacks on military bases keep increasing daily within the North East operation,” he said.
