The National Missioner of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Sheikh Abdrahman Olanrewaju Ahmad, has called for peace in light of the recent protest, during which members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), comprising mainly of Shiites, took to the streets of Kano to condemn the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
Sheikh Ahmad, preaching a sermon at the Lagos House, Ikeja, during the 2026 Ramadan Tafseer/iftar on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, said: “This is not a time for upheavals. It is a time of sober reflection. It may well be the beginning of the Third World War. It may even be worse than that, unless we face it with prayer. So we are not happy with what is happening. We are all affected. We are all in it together. We are not happy that lives are being wasted and lost, and that properties are being damaged. We are not happy that our brothers and fellow human beings are being attacked on a daily basis and killed.”
He admonished the people not to be part of the problem if they cannot be part of the solution. The cleric reminded the congregation of the effects of the End SARS protest and urged them not to join any protest they knew nothing about.
“Don’t cause destruction. Your intention may be pure and good, but do you know about the next person who will hide under that and cause mayhem and destruction? That is why we have come to appeal to all of us to be part of the solution, not part of the problem,” he said.
He also stated that prayer is the sword of believers. He made supplications to Allah for guidance for the governments of Iran and America. He prayed that Allah would help the two governments sustain peace and succeed at national and state levels.
He also stated that all that can be done is to support, counselling and advise both parties, adding that we do not need to rock the boat.
“Don’t join any protests. Don’t cause confusion. Don’t cause disaffection. This is not our war. We should be wary of propaganda.
“We should be wary of being drawn into a war that is not ours. We should pray for our Muslim brothers and sisters all over the world who have been affected. We should even pray for ourselves, as we are already being affected. And it is just the beginning,” he said. (Guardian)
