Bauchi State governor, Mohammed
The governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has declared that he has no intention of leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after closed-door talks with President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking after a closed-door meeting with the President at the State House on Friday, Bala Mohammed revealed that the conversations centered on governance and security collaboration.
The governor described the rumours linking his visit to the president as a possible defection from the PDP as baseless.
“I am a PDP man. I am not here for politics or defection. I am here for governance and partnership,” he said.
Mohammed stated that his visit to the president was on the deteriorating security situation in Alkaleri LGA of Bauchi, where banditry has increased due to the forest spaces around the Daji Dam.
He said he personally visited the president to present the report of the crisis in the affected communities and seek urgent assistance from the federal government.
Mohammed said the president accepted the report and responded positively, adding that he immediately issued directives for support.
Also, Muhammad called for the need for broader interstate cooperation against banditry, proposing a joint security summit involving Bauchi, Taraba, Plateau, and Gombe and the establishment of state police.
“We are very ready for state police. We have always supported it because it will reduce the burden on the Federal Government and make governors more responsive and accountable,” he said. (The Sun)
