Super Eagles goalkeeper, Obasogie
Super Eagles goalkeeper Amas Obasogie has been suspended for three months by Tanzanian club Singida Black Stars SC pending investigation into allegations of match-fixing, the club announced on Friday.
In an official statement issued by the CEO’s Office and shared on the club’s X handle, the club’s Disciplinary Committee also suspended midfielder Khalid Aucho for three months over indiscipline and absenteeism from work.
The statement read: “The leadership of Singida Black Stars SC, through the Disciplinary Committee, has taken disciplinary action against players Khalid Aucho and Amas Obasogie as follows:
“Khalid Aucho: Punished for indiscipline and absenteeism from work, suspended for 3 months.
“Amas Obasogie: Suspended for 3 months to allow investigation into match-fixing allegations.
“The club reminds all players and staff to uphold discipline, accountability, and respect for the club.”
Obasogie joined Singida Black Stars in recent seasons and has been a regular between the posts in the Tanzanian Premier League.
The match-fixing allegations are yet to be substantiated publicly, and no formal charges or detailed evidence have been released by the club or Tanzanian football authorities. The suspension is precautionary, allowing time for a full investigation.
The club did not specify which matches or incidents prompted the probe into Obasogie. (Vanguard, excluding headline)
