NCAA DG Chris Najomo
The Director General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Chris Najomo, has reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to strengthening passenger protection and tightening visa verification processes to ensure safer and more accountable air travel.
Najomo made the remarks while receiving a delegation led by Adenike Macaulay, Managing Director and CEO of a travel company, during a courtesy visit to the NCAA headquarters in Abuja. He stressed that while the Authority remains committed to improving ease of doing business in the aviation sector, regulatory standards and consumer rights would not be compromised.
Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, reiterated the Authority’s resolve to enforce consumer protection regulations, noting that airlines and service providers must resolve passenger complaints and process refunds within the stipulated 14-day timeline. He said this enforcement aligns with the aviation reform agenda of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.
Olayinka Babaoye-Iriobe, Director of Air Transport Regulation, commended the travel company for its contributions to the sector and urged continued collaboration to build a more resilient and transparent aviation ecosystem.
Earlier, Macaulay raised concerns about passengers travelling without valid visas and being denied entry at their destinations, which creates operational and financial challenges for travel service providers. She called for closer data-sharing cooperation with the NCAA and reaffirmed her company’s commitment to full regulatory compliance and improved service delivery. (Vanguard)
