The Ajiran community in Lagos State has vowed to ensure that those responsible for the killing of two princes in the town are brought to justice.
Prince Sheriff Salami was killed on April 18, 2023, in broad daylight, while another prince, Ademola Akinloye, was murdered on August 26, 2024, in a similar circumstance within the community.
The indigenes commended the police for ongoing efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killings and ensure that the perpetrators face the law.
In a statement signed by the monarch of the town, Tijani Adetunji Akinloye, and the Balogun of Ajiran, Chief Yekini Bakare, the community also warned against the unscrupulous sale of land belonging to the Ojomu Royal Family.
According to the statement, Ajiran is “a vast area of land described in Plan No. CT/55/55 of 5/5/55 and it belongs to the family known as the Ojomu Chieftaincy Family,” whose title has been affirmed by several court judgments and statutory documents.
The community noted that the royal family is actively involved in the investigation into the murders.
“Let it be noted that the royal family is very much involved in the investigation regarding the murders of Prince Sheriff Isola Salami on April 18, 2023, and Prince Ademola Akinloye on August 26, 2024.
“The two murders were carried out in broad daylight within the Ojomu community. This investigation is to ensure that murderers do not roam freely in our kingdom and that the subjects of our kingdom can live their lives without fear,” the statement read.
The community further disclosed that an independent investigation is ongoing into the alleged illicit sale of a vast expanse of land in Ajiran.
It stressed that all legitimate transactions relating to the Ojomu Royal Family’s land are conducted on special documents with security features.
“Consequently, the general public is warned, and people forging the family’s title deeds and principal member’s signature will eventually be caught and brought before the law,” the statement added.
The community also cautioned members of the public against dealing with individuals operating under the banner of the Ojomu Youth Forum or any other name without proper authorisation.
“The general public is warned to be wary of transactions in land with these persons and their cohorts who do not have the authority to deal in the Ojomu Royal Family’s land.
“We also advise those who have purchased land from the accredited representatives of the family to take possession of their land forthwith,” it said.
According to the community, the warning became necessary because some individuals without legal rights to the land have allegedly been selling portions to unsuspecting buyers.
It added that in the past, the family had relocated genuine purchasers who lost their land due to the activities of such unauthorised sellers.
