ADC chieftain Akuma
By PETER ANOSIKE
A chieftain of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nelson Ahamefula Akuma, has alleged that idleness has turned former governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, into a monitoring spirit.
Speaking Wednesday while reacting to the meeting allegedly held by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State in Minna, Niger State, Akuma said that in recent times, all that Fayose has been doing is running commentaries on the lives and activities of other people.
According to him, all the admirations that Fayose garnered for being courageous and outspoken when he was governor have since evaporated because he has become a content creator.
Akuma wondered why all that a healthy man would be doing is spying on the movements of politicians in different locations of the country.
Speaking further, he said that the action has simply shown that Fayose belongs to the league of people who have no other business outside politics.
According to him, they in the ADC understood the game Fayose is playing and who he is working for.
He said that the former governor’s mandate is to be throwing spanner in the wheel of the coalition with his espionage.
His words: “For some time now all that the former governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose has being doing is monitoring movements of politicians in every part of the country and to be honest the act is not giving him any respect. I have spent quite some time to think about this. At a point in this country, Ayo Fayose was one of the most loved and most popular politicians. Even people were bolding saying that they would name their children Ayo Fayose because then he represented courage and forthrightness. He was one of the few that had the courage to tell truth to power. I can recall his encounters with former presidents, Olusegun Obasanjo and Muhammadu Buhari and Nigerian masses loved him for that. But today, he is a shadow of his old self.”
Fayose, according to Akuma, should have done well as an actor going by the way he narrated the proceedings of a meeting that he did not attend.
He advised the former governor to try to emulate his immediate successor in office, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, who still retains the respect and love he had in office because he is conducting himself maturely.
“The way Ayo Fayose narrates the proceeding of a meeting that he is not in attendance is legendary. In fact, he deserves Oscar award for that. He even tells you the countenance and eye movements of the people in the meeting. Apart from that, he will tell you how the meeting came to an end as well as the adjourned date, venue and time. These imaginations are nothing but product of idleness. If he really has any tangible business that he is doing, I’m sure that he will not have the time to be monitoring the movement of prominent Nigerians,” Akuma said.
