Bolt announces last Jamaica race

Jamaican sprint champion and nine-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt says he will run his last race in his home country at next year’s Racers Grand Prix.

Bolt also confirmed Friday on Television Jamaica’s “Smile Jamaica” that next year’s World Championships in London will be his last major competitive appearance.
“Yes, I am definitely going to retire after the World Championships in London, that will be my last one,” Bolt said.
The 30-year-old said next year’s Racers Grand Prix will be his last race in front of local fans. “The Racers Grand Prix will be my last race in Jamaica, people, it will be the last time I run in Jamaica.”
Bolt won the 100-metre race, the 200-metre race, and the 4 × 100 metre relay at three consecutive Olympic Games.
He is also an 11-time World Champion, wining consecutive World Championships in the 100-meter, 200-metre and 4 × 100 meter relay from 2009 to 2015, with the exception of a false start in the 100-metre race in 2011.
Bolt has also twice broken the 200-meter world record, setting 19.30 seconds in 2008 and 19.19 seconds in 2009. (VOA)
