The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has dismissed as false a purported press release circulating on social media claiming that the agency has commenced a recruitment exercise, warning Nigerians to beware of fraudsters seeking to exploit job seekers.
In a disclaimer issued on February 4, 2026, and signed by the Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Christianah Adeyeye, the agency said the alleged recruitment notice “did not emanate from NAFDAC” and should be completely disregarded.
NAFDAC clarified that while it conducts recruitment exercises from time to time to engage qualified Nigerians, no recruitment has been announced by the agency, contrary to claims in the fake press release. “NAFDAC has not issued any press release announcing new recruitment,” the agency stated.
The regulatory body warned that such fake notices are often circulated with the intent of deceiving and extorting money from unsuspecting applicants. According to NAFDAC, “fraudulent claims and fake press releases are being circulated to mislead members of the public, often for criminal purposes.”
The agency urged Nigerians to always verify information relating to its activities through official channels only. “Authentic information from NAFDAC is published exclusively on the official NAFDAC website and through recognised media channels,” the statement stressed.
NAFDAC advised job seekers and the general public to exercise caution, remain vigilant, and avoid engaging with individuals or platforms demanding payment or personal details under the guise of facilitating employment with the agency, reiterating its commitment to transparency and public protection.
