A Christian group, Great Commission, has organised a four-day conference tagged “Call2All Nigerians” to promote moral values among young Nigerians and safeguard them for future generations.

The group said the Call2All Congress was founded by Dr Mark Anderson, a United States-based evangelist and teacher, who also worked with the team that established Youth With a Mission (YWAM).

According to the organisers, Anderson supported late Archbishop Benson Idahosa of the Church of God Mission International in taking the gospel to television audiences worldwide.

They explained that Call2All was birthed from a global congress convened in 2007 following an initiative by late evangelist Billy Graham, aimed at fostering collaboration among Christians to advance the Great Commission.

Speaking to journalists on Friday during the conference in Abuja, Mrs Bimbo Oloyede, a broadcaster, said Call2All brings together Christians from across the world to collaborate on advancing the gospel and nation-building.

Oloyede said participants include missionaries, pastors, evangelists, church leaders and prophets who meet to strategise on fulfilling the Great Commission.

“The Great Commission is Jesus’ instruction to go into the world, preach the gospel and baptise people in His name,” she said.

She noted that the conference, being held in Nigeria for the first time, chose Abuja because of its central location and accessibility to participants from all regions of the country.

Oloyede explained that the gathering was not only for worship but also for purposeful engagement aimed at shaping values and strengthening the moral foundation of younger generations.

“We believe that while older generations may have had deeper encounters with God, many younger people have not. Through shared testimonies and experiences, they can gain a clearer understanding of faith and its possibilities,” she said.

Also speaking, Ms Agatha Amata, a broadcaster, said moral values such as integrity and accountability had declined among today’s youth.

She said the current generation often failed to understand the principles that guided earlier generations, noting that communal responsibility once served as a moral check.

“In the past, wrongdoing by an individual reflected on the entire family. That sense of shared responsibility has been lost,” Amata said.

A cultural leader and Nollywood actress, Mrs Joke Silva, urged Nigerian youths not to lose faith in the country, describing Nigeria as a nation with immense potential.

She encouraged young people to maintain a positive mindset and build on the efforts of previous generations.

“Do not throw away the baby with the bath water. Many good things will still come out of Nigeria. Aim for excellence, envision your breakthrough and work towards it,” she said.

Dr Fela Durotoye, a leadership expert and 2019 presidential candidate of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), commended the Call2All initiative, describing it as a bold step toward positive societal change.

He said the conference was aimed at correcting negative mindsets among youths and inspiring them to become agents of transformation.

“This is the time for the youth to arise, shine and become culture shapers who influence society positively,” Durotoye said. (NAN)
