Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Ladoja
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, on Thursday, implored the Federal Government to help solve the ecological problems staring his people in the face.
He made this plea when he visited the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, in his office in Abuja.
Olubadan, in a statement released by his media aide, Adeola Oloko, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, acknowledged the previous interventions of the Federal Government and World Bank on the Ogunpa channelisation programme.
Lafoja said, “Ogunpa ecological problem gained more prominence because the areas affected are elitist areas stretching from Mokola, Ekotedo, Ogunpa, Oke Ado to Molete.
“I want to request the assistance of the Federal Government to help solve the ecological problems threatening the downtrodden people living around Oranyan, Kudeti Agbongbon Area and some other parts of the city that have not been in the spotlight due to no fault of theirs.
“What the numerous people along this route encounter during the rainy season is better imagined than told,” the monarch stressed.
Responding, the SGF, Akume, said he was not surprised that Kabiyesi could come all the way from Ibadan to Abuja to bring the attention of the Federal Government to the plight of his people, adding that this is why Olubadan has won a wide perspective of affection.
The SGF, therefore, promised that everything would be done by the Federal Government to assist.
Olubadan was accompanied by Senator Fatai Buhari, representing Oyo North and Senator Sharafadeen Alli, representing Oyo South, amongst others. (The PUNCH)
