TRACE officials at the scene of the accident
A Lexus Jeep has hit a man while he was trying to defecate in a ditch along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The vehicle was said to have plunged into the ditch when its tyre burst while in motion, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
Spokesperson of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta yesterday.
Akinbiyi said that the tyre of the vehicle with registration number AAA 444 JP burst, and the driver lost control of the vehicle, which rammed into the ditch and hit the man.
He said that the victim sustained varying degrees of injuries from the accident.
The TRACE Public Relations Officer said that two persons were involved in the crash: the driver of the vehicle and the injured victim.
He said that the police, TRACE, and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were on the ground for the rescue mission.
Akinbiyi added that the victim had been taken to Famobis Hospital and the accident vehicle had been towed off the road. (The Guardian)
