Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi has congratulated the Super Eagles on their third-place finish at the Africa Cup of Nations, praising the team’s resilience and fighting spirit throughout the tournament.

Nigeria secured the bronze medal after defeating Egypt 4–2 on penalties in the third-place playoff, ending their AFCON campaign on a positive note after narrowly missing out on a place in the final.

In a statement shared on his X handle on Saturday, Obi commended the players for representing Nigeria with pride and determination, noting that their performance reflected the values of perseverance and national unity.

He described the Super Eagles’ achievement as a source of pride for Nigerians at home and abroad, adding that the team’s effort had once again demonstrated the country’s strength and potential on the continental stage.

Obi also expressed optimism that the result would serve as a solid foundation for future successes, urging the players to build on the momentum and continue striving for greater victories in upcoming competitions.
