The turbaning ceremony
In an effort to strengthen and institutionalize traditional rulers in Bauchi State, a total of 15 District Heads from the three newly created Emirate Councils in Toro Local Government Area have been officially appointed and turbaned by the respective Emirs.
The coronation ceremonies took place across the Jama’a, Lame, and Toro Emirate Councils, with the newly appointed District Heads assuming leadership of their districts following approval from the state government.
During the ceremonies, the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Isah Babayo, urged the District Heads to administer their areas in accordance with Governor Bala Mohammed’s people-centred policies.
Babayo also charged the traditional rulers to work closely with their respective emirs to promote unity, peace and effective grassroots governance across the Emirates.
He emphasised that traditional institutions remain vital partners in bringing government closer to the people and ensuring the successful implementation of development programmes at the local level.
Babayo, further charged the newly appointed District Heads to uphold the values of integrity, justice, and service to their people, while working closely with traditional rulers and government authorities to promote peace, unity, and development at the grassroots.
Speaking at their palaces, the Emirs of the affected Councils commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his continued support and commitment to strengthening traditional institutions across Bauchi State.
They pledged their commitment to supporting government policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of the people of Toro Local Government Area and the State in general.
The presentation commenced with Toro Emirate, under the leadership of His Royal Highness, Umar Adamu Toro. Five district heads were presented for the emirate.
The District Heads include: Alhaji Muhammad Inuwa Ahmad, District Head of Toro (Cikin Gari), Alhaji Jafaru Idris Tulai, District Head of Tulai, Alhaji Ibrahim Adamu Toro, District Head of Golfada/Kogin Sallah, Yakubu Muhammad Sunusi, District Head of Ribina, and Aliyu Muhammad Tukur, District Head of Tilden Fulani.
The delegation later moved to the Lame Emirate, headed by His Royal Highness, Alhaji Aliyu Yakubu Lame, the Emirate of Lame, also has Five District Heads, who were also presented for the turbaning.
They are Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Lame, District Head of Lame, Alhaji Abdul’aziz Umar, District Head of Rishi, Alhaji Ibrahim Adamu, District Head of Zalau, Alhaji Adamu Yakubu, District Head of Tama, and Alhaji Abubakar Buhari, District Head of Wonu.
At the Jama’a Emirate, led by His Royal Highness, Alhaji Bala Sulaiman Adamu, Six District Heads were turbaned, they include Hussaini Suleiman Adamu, District Head of Nabardo, Alhaji Zubairu Yakubu, District Head of Zaranda, Alhaji Sule Umar, District Head of Mara, Alhaji Bala Umar, District Head of Jama’a (Chikin Gari), Alhaji Yusuf Doma, District Head of Palama, and Alhaji Muhammad Kilishi Jumba, District Head of Rauta.
The event attracted traditional title holders, government officials, and community members from across the local government.
The newly appointed District Heads expressed their deep gratitude to the Bauchi State Government and the traditional rulers for the confidence reposed in them, describing the appointments as a call to greater responsibility.
