Attacked Benue Links commercial bus
Three passengers were shot by gunmen on Saturday night while traveling from Gboko to Lagos in a Benue State–owned transport company vehicle, known as Benue Links.
According to a source, the incident occurred a few kilometres to Otukpo within the state, when gunmen reportedly intercepted the vehicle.
The Information Officer of Benue Links Nigeria Limited, Johnson Ehi Daniel, confirmed that the three victims are receiving treatment at the Teaching Hospital in Otukpo.
He added that the General Manager of the company visited the injured passengers on Sunday at the Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital.
Daniel explained that the attack on one of their vehicles took place at the Burnt Bricks area of Otukpo at about 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, 10th January 2026.
According to him, “The vehicle, which departed Gboko en route Otukpo to lodge for the night and continue its journey the following day, was attacked by suspected gunmen along the route.
“Thankfully, no life was lost during the incident. However, three passengers sustained gunshot injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment at the Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital, Otukpo, where they are responding positively to treatment.”
He added that the company’s General Manager, Comrade Alexander Aondohemba Fanafa, alongside the Business Manager, Edache Joseph, has provided both logistical and emotional support to the victims and assured that the company would bear the full cost of their medical treatment.
The manager, who later addressed the company’s drivers in Otukpo, reiterated that there is a ban on night journeys. (Sunday Tribune)
