The Nigeria Democratic Front (NDF) has issued a statement condemning the impeachment proceedings initiated by certain lawmakers in Rivers State against Governor Sim Fubara. The group alleges that the move is driven by the personal interests of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and represents a shameful display of political thuggery.

In a statement signed by National Coordinator Ikenna Ellis-Ezenekwe, the NDF is calling for stakeholders in Rivers State and within the APC to recall the lawmakers involved, citing that they no longer represent the Interests of their constituents but rather those of their political benefactor, Nyesom Wike.

The statement further accuses Wike of seeking to plunge Rivers State into crisis for personal gain and urges the people of Rivers State to reject the lawmakers and demand people-oriented development. The NDF also expressed support for Governor Fubara, urging him to remain steadfast, and called on President Tinubu to rein in Nyesom Wike.

The full statement reads: ”The Nigeria Democratic Front (NDF) is calling for immediate retributive actions on the Rivers State lawmakers who recently launched an impeachment proceeding against the seating governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara. It is a shameful display of political thuggery for the APC lawmakers loyal to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to begin an Ill-advised impeachment just because of the private interest of the FCT Minister.

“NDF is calling for the stakeholders in Rivers State and within the APC to launch a recall of the shameless and spineless lawmakers. Their action clearly shows that they no longer present the interest of their constituents rather they represent the interest of their political paymaster, Nyesom Wike.

“The people of Rivers State should reject the lawmakers loudly and sternly. They do not mean well for the State and for the people. Nyesom Wike wants to keep Rivers State in perpetual crisis so he can continue with his underhanded activities.

“The people of Rivers State must rise and take their state back from the blood-sucking vampires. Rivers State people no longer have blood to give. They are tired of bloodsuckers and the politics of godfathers and greed.

“Rivers State is ready for people-oriented development and not Wike-oriented destruction. NDF calls on the Governor o’ Rivers State to seat up and stay courageous and face front. You have the support of the people. Don’t fear the evil that barks only in the dark.

“President Tinubu should call Wike to order immediately.”
