APC Chieftain, Bekee
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Emeka Bekee, has described the political moves of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as a struggle for survival rather than an attempt to dominate party structures.
Speaking during a discussion with ARISE NEWS on Wednesday regarding Wike’s growing political influence across party lines, Bekee said the former Rivers State governor is primarily focused on preserving his relevance in the state’s complex political landscape.
Bekee said, “I think what Minister Wike is doing is fighting for survival right now. Nothing else. He’s fighting for survival. Rivers state is a very large state. He’s fighting for survival.”
Addressing speculation about Wike’s possible formal defection to the APC, Bekee clarified that while Wike has not officially joined the ruling party, his political stature would naturally accord him a leadership role if he does.
Wike has repeatedly claimed to command loyalty across political parties, insisting that his political structure cuts across both the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He has also described his support base as a rainbow coalition that transcends partisan boundaries, a claim reinforced by the presence of party chairmen from different political camps at some of his public appearances.
