Here comes the sun . . . NiMET predicts sunshine for the first time in a long time . . . but only in the North!

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) has forecast sunshine for today, Monday October 3, 2016. This is the first time it would be doing so for quite a while. The predicted sunshine is, however, only for selected parts of Nigeria’s North. For the rest of the country, the forecast still ranges from cloudiness to sundry activities and rains. Below is a summary of the forecast weather conditions for the day:

NORTHERN STATES: Partly cloudy to sunny conditions is expected over the entire North except places like Kano, Katsina and Gusau with chances of having cloudy skies in the morning. But later in the day, partly cloudy to sunny conditions will prevail across the entire region. Day time temperatures over this region should be in the range of 31 – 42°C.

CENTRAL STATES: Partly cloudy conditions are anticipated over the entire region in the morning. However, there are chances of isolated thundery activities to affect Makurdi, Bauchi, Jos, Mambilla Plateau, Yola and Jalingo axis in the afternoon/evening period. Day time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 28 – 33°C.

SOUTHERN STATES: This region is expected to be cloudy in the morning with prospects of localised rains over Oshogbo, Akure, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Abeokuta, Ado-Ekiti, Eket, Shaki, Calabar, Ikom, Ogoja, Lagos and Yenegoa in the afternoon/evening period.

Day time temperatures are expected to be in the range of 28 – 32°C.
