Peter Obi, Anthony Joshua
By BONIFACE AKARAH
Peter Obi, former presidential candidate and prominent political figure, has expressed deep concern over a road accident involving former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua in Makun, Ogun State. In a message tweeted from his verified handle on Monday evening, December 29, 2025, Obi called for divine intervention and urged swift medical attention for the sports star.
“It is with deep concern that I received the news of the road accident involving former heavyweight boxing champion, Mr. @anthonyjoshua, in Makun, Ogun State,” Obi tweeted. “It is particularly worrisome that this incident occurred while he was in Nigeria. Many of us are also compelled to reflect on reports that no ambulance was readily available to convey him to the hospital.”
Obi further extended his condolences to the families of the two lives reportedly lost in the crash. “May God Almighty grant him a speedy recovery, and I extend my deepest sympathies to the families of the two lives lost. May God grant them comfort and grant the departed eternal rest,” he added.
The tweet highlights both concern for Joshua’s health and a wider reflection on emergency response protocols in Nigeria, emphasizing the challenges faced by accident victims when immediate medical support is not available.
As Nigerians await updates on Joshua’s condition, Obi’s public message underscores the empathy and solidarity being extended by national figures in moments of crisis, blending personal concern with calls for broader systemic reflection.
