Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, on Thursday, gifted the Christian community in the state the sum of N24 million.
This was contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General, (Press Affairs), Government House, Gombe.
The governor had earlier approved and released a total of N150 million for disbursement to individuals, groups, organisations and associations across the state as part of his administration’s seasonal support initiatives.
The gift on Thursday was a further demonstration of compassion and inclusive governance, which complemented the governor’s financial support to the Christian community with the distribution of food and non-food items to ensure a joyful and seamless Christmas celebration across the state.
Inuwa announced the donation of N20 million cash during the Christmas Homage by the Christian community, comprising N5 million to CAN leadership, N10 million to the Youth Wing of CAN (YOWICAN) and N5 million to the women’s wing.
He also announced an additional N4 million in support of gospel singers and Christian artistes who performed at the event.
To further ease the burden on families during the festive period, the governor approved the distribution of essential items to Christian communities across the state.
The items include 1,100 bags of rice, 1,100 cartons of macaroni, 1,100 pieces of Atampa fabric and 11 bales of Shadda, all apportioned for equitable distribution to vulnerable persons within the Christian community across the 11 Local Government Areas of Gombe State.
The gesture was aimed at promoting the values of love, sharing and togetherness that define the Christmas season, while reaffirming the Inuwa Yahaya administration’s commitment to inclusivity, compassion and peaceful coexistence among all segments of the state’s population. (TRIBUNE)
